Early Literacy Specialists (Region of Peel ~ Children's Services)
Early Literacy Specialists provide support and consultation to parents and caregivers to promote children's early language and literacy development. Helpful ideas, resources and educational activities are shared with families to help develop reading and writing skills in everyday life. On-site monthly during Family Time hours. Child Behaviour Consultants (Peel Children's Centre)
Child Behaviour Consultants meet with families who have concerns about their child's behaviour and/or mental health. Consultants discuss social-emotional and behavioural issues and can make recommendations or help with referrals. On-site monthly by appointment only. Speech & Language Consultants (ErinoakKids)
Due to a reduction in wait times, the decision has been made to no longer provide Preschool Speech and Language community consults through the CPCC. Families may access PSL services directly at ErinoakKids. To arrange a consultation, please contact ErinoakKids’ centralized intake number directly at 905-855-2690 or 1-877-374-6625. You can also arrange to attend one of the upcoming PEP-Start clinics. (see PEP-Start flyers at front desk)
Autism Consultants (Kerry's Place Autism Services)
Autism Consultants meet with families to discuss issues and concerns specific to their situations. Appointments are available the thirdThursday of each month. This service is for children all ages. To book an appointment, call Linda Jongsma at 905-457-1130 at ext. 206. Please indicate that you would like to book a Family Resource Day appointment at the Caledon Parent-Child Centre. When leaving a message, provide contact information and briefly outline the concerns and issues to be addressed.
Please note that clinics are no longer available at our location. To access a breastfeeding clinic near you, call Health Line Peel at 905-799-7700 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Clinics are free of charge.
Support for Abused Women and their Children (Family Transition Place)
Private, confidential counselling for abused women (with or without children) is available with Family Transition Place (FTP) counsellors at the Caledon Parent-Child Centre. Caledon women dealing with the emotional and psychological impacts of abuse and trauma can meet with a Community Counsellor. Women who need legal or housing support, as well as assistance with budgeting, safety planning, support with legal issues, problem solving and/or linking with community resources can meet with a Transitional Support Counsellor. Appointments can be made by call FTP at 905-584-4357. Child care can be arranged. 24 Hour crisis support and information are available at 905-584-HELP or TTY 519-942-1651 for the deafened and hard of hearing.
